A Hot Girl Walk is an outdoor walk where you only think about 3 things:
1. The things you're grateful for
2. Your goals and how you'll achieve them
3. How HOT you are! (confidence)
You may not use this time to think about any drama in your life!
HGW's have become a viral sensation with billions of views across social media, but how do you do a Hot Girl Walk? How long do you go for? Is it really that easy to think about gratitude and your goals and then you'll be hot?
Step 1:
The first step of a HGW is to find a route. Whether you walk to a nearby coffee shop, or you hop on the treadmill, the goal isn't to hit a specific mileage or step count, but to focus on the three pillars mentioned above. Start out small with just a mile. Walk 0.5 miles away from your home, then back- this will get you to 1 mile! Increase your mileage each week and you'll find yourself Hot Girl Walk-ing 4-6 miles/day!
Step 2:
Mia Lind, HGW Creator and Founder, recommends dressing comfortably. Not every HGW needs to be accessorized with a matching workout set and a perfectly slicked back bun (though sometimes looking great can also make you FEEL great!). Sometimes, a comfortable pair of leggings, a thick pair of socks, and a hoodie, is all you need to help support you on however many miles you choose to HGW.
Step 3:
Find a good playlist! Many people listen to podcasts and audiobooks, but a fun song with a good BPM keeps spirits high, while reflecting on the 3 pillars. Mia created an official HGW playlist HERE.
Those are the basics in getting started on a Hot Girl Walk: lace up a pair of sneakers and put your right foot in front of your left! But to really maximize the resutls of the Hot Girl Walk, and getting to feel your very best, you need to focus on the three pillars: Gratitude, goals, and confidence.
Gratitude:
There's a lot of research that shows the power of daily gratitude practice and how it can be correlated to increased happiness in people. Gratitude practice on a HGW is easy, it's just about looking around and saying "thank you" to the things you take for granted. Start out small by saying "thank you" to your body that it's able to go on a walk, and then get to the bigger things by saying "thank you" to your friends for loving you for who you are, for your family, and anything else you can think of. You can do this in your head or I'm sure your friends wouldn't mind getting a nice phone call.
No matter what is going on in your life, gratitude practice helps focus your mind on the positive things that we often overlook when dealing with daily stressors.
Goals:
Once our minds are in the right headspace, we can start thinking more about our goals. Whereas gratitude is about thanking people for how they've helped you, thinking about your goals is also about giving yoruself proper credit for the things you have earned and achieved. Leave "humble" at the door while you give yourself credit for your achievments.
Next, think about what may be next for you, and how you're going to get there. Think about where you want to be in 10 years, and imagine how that will feel. You have people in your life that will support you, and you have already achieved so much up to this point, what are the steps you need to take to get there?
Confidence:
The secret of the Hot Girl Walk, is that it's not a journey to BECOME hot. You're already hot, you just need to bring it to the surface. Once you've counted the things you have to be grateful for, your achievements, and your goals, you're left with the endorphins from a long walk, and the dopamine from positive thinking.
Let yourself feel the glow and pride from doing a long walk, turn the music up, and let the feeling wash over you as you've just completed your first Hot Girl Walk!
